HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, graced the premiere forum at the Knowledge Convention 2016 yesterday, at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC), in Berakas.
Also present at the event was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
Greeting Their Royal Highnesses on arrival at the ICC was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications and the Co-Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Knowledge Convention 2016; and Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming speech by Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), in his capacity as the forum’s chairman.

This was followed by a special forum session on ‘The Impact of Communications on the Ummah’s Well-being’.
Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi Director of Land Transport chaired the panel of speakers that comprised Professor Dr Mohamad Fauzan bin Haji Noordin, from Kulliyyah Information and Communication Technology, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia; Dr Awang Haji Mazanan bin Haji Yusof from the State Mufti’s Office; and Dr Hajah Mona Yati binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Mohd Kassim, from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
During the forum, the panellists discussed the development of info-communication technology (ICT) and transportation from an Islamic perspective, as well as secure communication in a world without borders.
Later, a symposium was held in the afternoon session, marking the conclusion of the three-day convention.
