Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in establishing the Internet of Things (IoT) laboratory at the School of Info-Communication Technology, Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus which will be launched next year.
The signing ceremony took place at the IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus yesterday morning.
Witnessing the signing was Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad.
Acting Director of Technical Education/Chief Executive Officer of IBTE Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli highlighted that the cooperation between AITI and IBTE has long been established especially in curriculum development for IT-related programmes.
He added that five IBTE students have been involved in the handling of computer equipment donated last April during the donation campaign to support online learning initiatives.

“Through this platform, the students will be able to gain many benefits in acquiring knowledge and skills as well as developing their creativity. This will also allow them to create a more efficient and systematic prototype device to compete in BICTA and CIPTA competitions,” he said.
“The MoU will provide an opportunity for lecturers to share their expertise in the development of technology, information and equipment.”
Signing on behalf of IBTE was Dr Haji Mohd Zamri, witnessed by Acting Director of Central Campus Armi Durani bin Haji Durhman. Meanwhile Acting Chief Executive Officer Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar signed on behalf of AITI, witnessed by Assistant Chief Executive (Resource Management) Norshahrul Nizam bin Othman.
The MoU aims to identify projects and initiatives that can benefit both IBTE and AITI.
In addition, it will also assist IBTE lecturers and students to explore innovative technological advances in preparation for the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
In the meantime, the IoT module will be implemented in the third semester of the HNTec Programme for Information Technology Course and HNTec for Computer Networking Course in July 2021.
