In upholding the titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced that foreigners entering Brunei through land control posts will need to undergo lab tests for SARS-CoV-2 before entering the Sultanate.
This was announced by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah in his capacity as the Co-Chairman of the Steering Committee on the Border Crossing Affairs.
According to a press release from the PMO, a copy of the lab test result must be submitted to the Immigration and National Registration Department located at the entry point of the control post.
A result which comes back as negative can be used within seven days from the date of the test conducted. This regulation is applied to all foreign nationalities including transit drivers as well as transport operators.
The Ministry of Health will also be conducting random SARS-CoV-2 tests for transport operators including the drivers and passengers entering the country through the land control post (by land). Meanwhile, the entry for foreign commercial transportation endorsed by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) through land control post will be limited to three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
