His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, the Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday presented house keys to 22 needy families, besides contributions and certificates to mark Yayasan’s 28th anniversary.
The presentation at the Yayasan Complex opened with the welcoming address by Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof in his capacity as the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors.
The ceremony followed with a video presentation on Sabda Khas by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and a video on Pencapaian Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Sepanjang 28 tahun dan Hala Tuju ke Hadapan.
Twenty-one of the houses were built under the Yayasan Housing Assistance Scheme, while the other was built through an integrated project between Yayasan and the Community Development Department (JAPEM) of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports (MCYS).
Eleven families were awarded housing assistance in the Brunei-Muara District, while 11 who received house keys reside in the Tutong District. The houses embody a modern concept and design.

The assistance is provided to underprivileged families living in poor housing conditions. The housing assistance project is in line with Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s strategic direction in improving the quality of life and well-being of the people.
His Royal Highness also presented Yayasan contributions to two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) – Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam and the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei.
The contribution is an initiative for the welfare and well-being of the disabled, who should be given guidance, education and skills to become successful individuals who can contribute to society and the country.
Pusat Ehsan received BND50,000 to support the centre to reach its full potential. The contribution was received by Pusat Ehsan Senior Trustee Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin bin Abdul Wahab.
SMARTER Brunei also received BND50,000, of which 50 per cent will be used to manage all learning and teaching needs of the autistic children, while the remaining 50 per cent will go towards paying for the education fee of children from lower income family. The contribution was received by SMARTER Brunei Acting President Pengiran Zamri bin Pengiran haji Bujang.
His Royal Highness also presented a certificate of appreciation to Haji Syed Mohd Yassin bin Haji Syed Anayatullah, who represented the 450 Yayasan volunteers engaged in several Yayasan charitable projects this year.
