Persons granted Brunei citizenship must extend undivided loyalty and abide by the laws and rules of the country, Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) Acting Director Liza Suriani binti Haji Ibrahim said.

She made these comments yesterday where 195 individuals who were granted Bruneian citizenship received certificates at a ceremony at the International Convention Centre.

On Monday, 194 received the Brunei citizenship certificate bringing the total to 389.

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong presented the certificates.

Liza Suriani said this was the 33rd ceremony organised by the department in connection with the presentation of certificates after being granted Bruneian citizenship.

She added that the Brunei citizenship was given in accordance with Section 6(1) and Section 5(6) of the Brunei Nationality Act, Chapter 15.
