The establishment of the Indera Sports Club Academy (ISCA) is another landmark in the successful management of the Indera Sports Club (ISC) in guiding a generation of players from the grassroots to the youth level to strive for football excellence.
ISC Head of Youth Development Roney bin Morni said since its establishment on April 28, 2019, ISCA has received a very encouraging response with 100 players.
Currently, ISCA has 15 coaches including four women who oversee players at the under-19, under-16, under-12, under-10 and under-8 levels.
“At the start of its establishment, ISCA participated in the festival and youth tournament organised by the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD), where they made an impact,” said Roney during a management meeting with the ISCA coaching members at the ISC President’s Headquarters in Jerudong.
The ISCA programme, which has been suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak, is expected to reopen next month by opening entries for new players.
Players who are interested in joining ISCA can register through the ISC official website and their social media.
Meanwhile, General Manager of ISC Rosdin bin Haji Abdul Aziz said the appearance of female coaches in the ISC has become an important history in the development of the club as the coaches have the accreditation and knowledge in training and sports science.
According to him, the objective of introducing female coaches is to guide the younger age group, especially the grassroots level for the introduction of football and theory as well as serving as teachers for the under-8s.
ISCA is currently planning its development for a period of three to five years through the Grassroots Department and the Youth Department, which serves to unearth the skills of the players to produce high-calibre players at club and national level and so on.
The event was also attended by the ISC President and the management of the club.
