HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday received in audience Tran Dai Quang, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and his spouse, Nguyen Thi Hien, who are in the country for a three-day state visit.
Their Majesties welcomed the arrival of the Vietnam president and his spouse at the Istana Nurul Iman.
Their Majesties then together with Tran Dai Quang and his spouse received the royal salute on the dais, which was followed by the national anthems of both countries.
Twenty-one gun salutes were fired as the two leaders inspected the guard of honour mounted by the 1st Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Forces.
Tran Dai Quang and Nguyen Thi Hien were then introduced to the members of the royal family; state dignitaries; Cabinet Ministers; deputy ministers; the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; the Commissioner of Police; foreign envoys in Brunei Darussalam; as well as Permanent Secretaries at the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and their respective spouses.
Their Majesties were also introduced to the members of the Vietnam President’s delegation.
The delegation included Dao Viet Trung, Chairman of the President’s Office; Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment; Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade; Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training; and deputy ministers and senior officials from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Shortly after, an audience ceremony was held at the Cheradi Laila Kenchana.
Also present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah binti Dato Haji Nasir; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam, as well as other members of the royal family.
Also attending the audience ceremony were Dao Viet Trung, Nguyen Chi Dung, Tran Tuan Anh, Phung Xuan Nha, deputy ministers from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Nguyen Truong Giang, the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam. After the audience ceremony, His Majesty consented to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Also attending the meeting was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.
Also present at the meeting were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education as the Minister-in-Attendance; Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the meeting, His Majesty and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam discussed bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam, as well as exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern.
The bilateral meeting was held in the Cheradi Ratna Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.
