A vehicle caught fire at the parking lot of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) in the wee hours of yesterday, causing damage to two other vehicles parked nearby.

The team determined that the fire had engulfed the saloon car’s engine. The vehicle belonged to a foreigner. The cause of the fire is under inverstigation.

In light of the growing number of vehicle fires, the Fire and Rescue Department urged motorists to enhance their knowledge on vehicle fire safety and to ensure the installation of electrical wiring for a vehicle’s electronic equipment is performed by skilled professionals. It is also advisable to keep a fire extinguisher for vehicles that are over seven years, and to have frequent checks by accredited workshops.
