Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) will second 21 cabin crew to Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony at the RB Campus yesterday.

The selected cabin crew will participate in a secondment programme at the private specialist hospital from November 2 to April 30, 2021. This is in addition to RB providing JPMC specialist training for its staff through the Royal Brunei Learning Academy.

The MoU was signed by RB Acting Chief Executive Officer Martin Aeberli and JPMC Chief Operating Officer Zauyah binti Md Tarmizi, witnessed by RB Senior Vice President – Cabin Services Nur Rita Syakirah binti Abdullah and JPMC Deputy Medical Director Dr Muhammad Hiza Wardy bin Haji Abdul Halim.

“We are very proud to partner with JPMC to commence a secondment programme for our RB cabin crew. Our crew are well-equipped for the role as Patient Associate where they have been professionally trained to uphold the highest standards and to ensure guests’ safety at all times in their line of work.

“With their numerous skillsets and experiences in areas including customer service, and safety and emergency procedures, coupled with the crews’ voluntary work experience at flu centres, hospitals and hotels during this pandemic, these make them the most suitable candidates for the position they are trusted with to take care of JPMC’s guests. We have been extremely lucky and honoured to have them as part of our team at RB, and we wish all the best for their time at JPMC,” said Martin.

“Excellence in healthcare is one of JPMC’s core values. Royal Brunei Airlines being a world class and leading Syariah airline, the collaboration between JPMC and RB in strengthening manpower competencies shall bring forth good effort toward the achievement of both
organisation objectives. We hope this collaboration can be an example for other organisations to follow in helping to elevate the nation towards greater heights,” said Zauyah.

As part of the secondment programme, RB crew members will be appointed as Patient Associate to enhance service delivery and provide source of information for patients and guests at JPMC.

They are also responsible for coordinating and directing patient experience activities in collaboration with the management team at assigned facilities and will employ customer service skills including welcoming visitors, provide directions and request assistance for visitors needing special assistance.

The Patient Associates will liaise and work closely with doctors, nurses, customer care, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, security, transport and patient billing during the period.
