Thirty-three students from the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) School of Business made an educational trip to the Supreme Court on Saturday.
Led by Assistant Professor at UTB’s Centre of Communication, Teaching and Learning (CCTL) Dr Malai Zeiti binti Sheikh Abdul Hamid, the educational visit aimed at allowing the students to witness court in session, expose students on the roles and duties of the court, provide experiential learning experiences and enhance their knowledge of the Brunei court system.
They learnt about the use of different genres in communication, especially about formal language and the language of the courts.
Upon arrival, the students were also briefed by Magistrate Mohammad Marzuqi bin Haji Sabtu. They witnessed a short court session in the High Court, before a second briefing and a question and answer session with Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar at the Magistrate’s Court.
The visit was part of a compulsory module – Effective Communication – offered by CCTL at UTB for all first year students.
