Thirty-five Halaqah Brunei Darussalam members participated in the Temburong One Village, One Product (Temburong 1K1P) travel package by Darussalam Travel and Tours yesterday.
The package includes exploring the local culture while learning about places to visit.
The group led by Datin Hajah Rosni binti Haji Tungkat comprised members from Malaysia, Singapore, Jordan, and Italy who reside in the country.
Participants first visited Kampong Belais and Buda-Buda and were shown bawang goreng and penyaram cooking demonstrations. They also viewed several chalets available for rent and popular fishing spots.
The group continued their visit to the Kampong Rataie Community Hall and were briefed on programmes organised by the village consultative council (MPK) of Kampong Rataie. The group viewed wooden handicraft such as canes, spatulas, kayu sakang and observed honey potato chips and bahulu cooking demonstrations.

The group then visited Kampong Lepong Baru and were briefed on the historical background and socio-economic activities of the residents. The local MPK also showcased their handicraft products.
Halaqah Brunei Darussalam member Suzana binti Husin from Singapore said it was a good opportunity to understand the local culture, food and geography.
“This is my first time visiting Temburong and I am impressed with the simple life, enjoying the green scenery and interacting with the locals about their products,” she added.
Meanwhile, Jordanian Jehan said the trip provided a closer look on how local products were made and the different cultures in the district.
