Serikandi Group of Companies is committed to easing unemployment in the Sultanate, with the launch of a stewardship programme in collaboration with JobCentre Brunei, through the i-Ready Apprenticeship Programme.
Four i-Ready candidates have been chosen for the Local Steward and Cookery Programme. Serikandi hopes to be a catalyst to the nation’s localisation aspirations and looks forward to seeing the apprentices demonstrate perseverance in a tough environment.
Serikandi Chairman and Managing Director Shaikh Haji Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmed highlighted this during a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing between Serikandi Group of Companies and JobCentre Brunei for the first i-Ready batch headed for Serikandi Offshopre Catering Division (OCD) recently.
Dedicated to tackling unemployment issues in Brunei, the programme also serves to equip trainees with necessary attributes for offshore base designation. Serikandi considered i-Ready candidates to be in the first batch for the stewardship programme, targetting TVET and diploma graduates in hospitality and culinary, as they already have the basic knowledge to meet the operation manpower requirements, particularly during the mobilisation period.
Since the introduction of the i-Ready Apprenticeship Programme three years ago, Serikandi has taken on 10 i-Ready graduates, six of whom have been made permanent staff.
