The National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) held their ‘day of action’ on drug abuse prevention education programme in conjunction with International Volunteer Day 2020.
The event, in collaboration with the Lambak Kanan Mosque Takmir Committee members, took place at the Lambak Kanan Mosque, Berakas.
BASMIDA President Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali was the guest of honour.
BASMIDA Vice-President Hajah Linda binti Abdullah, in her capacity as chairperson of the organising committee, explained that the programme seeks to enhance awareness on the dangers of drug abuse among youth and shares the importance of volunteer work in the community to hinder youth from taking part in drug-related activities.
The programme also invited youth to participate in volunteer works and other healthy pursuits to focus on positive moral values and contribute to the nation.
Datin Hajah Masni reminded youth that drug activities, especially the distribution of drugs, are considered enemies of the nation as they cause disruptions to families and negatively impact the society.
The programme aimed to share and disseminate information among youth on the various drug prevention education programmes, the types of drugs available and the consequences of drug abuse.
The event continued with a motivational talk on Pembentukan Akhlak Diusia Remaja by Pengiran Kamarul Zaman bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu. It was followed by a question-and-answer session before the presentation of certificates.
