HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday presented a new rank insignia to His Royal Highness Lieutenant Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, who was promoted to Acting Captain.
At the rank insignia presentation ceremony that took place at the Bolkiah Garrison Officers’ Mess, His Majesty, who is also the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the RBAF, was greeted upon arrival by First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence; and Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the RBAF.
Before proceeding to the Officers’ Mess to present the rank insignia, His Majesty was accorded a Royal Salute and inspected a guard of honour mounted by personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF).
At the Officers’ Mess, His Majesty affixed the new rank insignia of Acting Captain to His Royal Highness Lieutenant Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
The promotion took effect on May 9, 2016.
A Doa Selamat was read to bless the occasion by Lieutenant Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, Head of the Religious Department of the RBAF.
Before the conclusion of the ceremony, His Majesty and His Royal Highness Prince Captain ‘Abdul Mateen signed a royal parchment to mark their visit.
Also present at the ceremony were members of Defence Executive Committee, service commandants, directors, commandants, senior officers, and officers of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
