Members of the public can expect new variations under One Village One Product (1K1P) initiative, following the launch of the 1K1P classic and premium products yesterday.
Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong presided over the event at the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Heritage Branch in Pekan Bangar, Temburong.
The minister also viewed the 1K1P classic and premium products on display.
Legislative Council (LegCo) members, Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), officials from the ministry and BIBD, and guests were also present.
1K1P classic products are original commodities with improvements to the taste, colour and design, according to current demand. The product innovation process has been implemented in collaboration with trained experts in their respective fields.
Classic products of 1K1P with the concept of grab-and-go use user-friendly packaging with target sales for daily use and fast sales on the market.
Meanwhile, 1K1P premium products exceed the level of classic products in terms of unique taste, more notable product colour, the use of better product packaging, as well as fulfilling the certification and standards for the international market.
Premium products are targetted for use as corporate souvenirs and are only available in specialised outlets.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has devised an ecosystem of 1K1P classic and premium products, in order to ensure a steady supply, consistent product quality and attractive packaging for potential buyers.
This involves the collaboration of the ministry’s strategic partners, including government-linked companies (GLCs), as large-scale production centres of classic and premium 1K1P products with skilled labour, high-tech equipment and certification such as Halal and HACCPA.
The ecosystem is in line with the whole-of-nation concept, with the involvement of the MoHA as a government agency, BIBD as the main Islamic financial institution, GLCs and the private sector, in contributing to the success of the 1K1P Transformation Programme.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) of Home Affairs Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan said, “The 1K1P Transformation Programme 2020 is an effort and initiative of the MoHA, with the cooperation of BIBD, in providing training for entrepreneurs under the 1K1P programme.
“The programme is divided into five phases: the 1K1P Transformation Bootcamp, the 1K1P Transformation Workshop, the 1K1P Product Innovation Workshop, a Classic and Premium 1K1P Products Showcase, and Classic and Premium 1K1P Products on the Market.
“The first phase was held from July 27 to 30, involving 35 1K1P entrepreneurs representing their respective village consultative councils. The participants were also exposed to various management approaches in preparing their respective business plans.
“As a result of the evaluation by a panel of judges for the 1K1P Transformation Programme, 19 of the participants were selected to continue the course in phases two and three, from August to September 3.
“The 1K1P transformation has already undergone several phases. It is currently in phase four, where the ministry is introducing 1K1P classic and premium products to the market.”
The 1K1P classic and premium products are on sale for two days only, at the BIBD Heritage Branch at Pekan Bangar. Today, they will go on sale from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm.
