The Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam is organising a Pasar Rakyat at the Indonesian Embassy complex which ends today.
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam Dr Sujatmiko officiated the opening ceremony yesterday.
“I hope Pasar Rakyat can strengthen cooperation between Brunei and Indonesia, especially for the small and medium-sized local economies selling Indonesian products,” said Dr Sujatmiko while introducing traditional cuisines from several Indonesian regions that are rarely found in Brunei, such as rawon, empal gentong and karedok.
Pasar Rakyat, which is part of the Brunei December Festival series of events, features 32 outlets consisting 27 food outlets selling specialties and seven non-food outlets by Indonesian traders in the country. Several importers of Indonesian products also participated in the bazaar to promote their goods.
A blood donation drive will be held today.
