A total of 50,517 primary, secondary and six form student enrollments were recorded this year, according to figures from the Ministry of Education, with the nation yesterday experiencing bumper-to-bumper traffic along school routes on the first day of school.

Some 24,188 primary students were enrolled into pre-classes to Year 6, while 23,584 students were enrolled into Years 7-11. No figures were found for Year 12 enrolment.

For sixth form classes, 1,372 students enrolled for Upper Sixth classes, while no figures were found for Lower Six enrolment.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) also commenced its Fresher’s Week yesterday, welcoming 457 students in its January 2020/2021 intake, of whom 43 are PhD students, 157 Masters students, 277 undergraduates, 19 UniBridge students and 11 diploma students.

The orientation week is organised by the Student Affairs Section with support from the Students Representative Council and volunteers. It is aimed at welcoming first-year undergraduates and graduate students into the UBD fold.
