A total of 132 Kindergarten 1 students of Taman Asuhan Kanak-Kanak (TASKA) Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) began their first day of school yesterday with a three-day orientation ceremony set to run until January 7.
The orientation is to familiarise the students with their new school environment, teachers
and classmates.
TASKA YSHHB Principal Datin Hajah Zainab binti Haji Abdul Wahab said for academic session 2021, the students are divided into morning and afternoon sessions.
There will be four classes for morning session and one in the afternoon.
During the orientation, parents can accompany their children into the classrooms but after the orientation ended, only one parent or guardian is allowed to drop off the students, she added.
“Several preventative measures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are still being carried out by the school. Students and their parents need to scan the BruHealth QR code and get their body temperature taken prior to entering the premises,” she said.
Teachers are also urged to ensure that students wash their hands after any class activities and before having refreshments.
TASKA YSHHB uses a play-based learning approach to students, taking into account the characteristics of children who love to play.
This approach helps to develop skills in teamwork, socialisation, leadership, creative thinking, imagination, communication and problem-solving.
A parent, Khuzaimah binti Haji Ghafar in an interview with the Bulletin said, prior to the school term, her daughter Mysha Mikayla binti Mohammad Fakhrul Anwar was introduced to learning alphabets, letters and colours at home.
Her son is also enrolled at the school, making it easier to monitor their educational development, she added.
Meanwhile, Rozainah binti Haji Abdul Rahman said she hopes her son, Muhammad Izqil Arian bin Abdul Qawiem will do well in school and adapt to the learning environment quickly.
