Some 36,500 students began their religious education nationwide this year with 5,501 students registered for pre-religious school. Out of the figure, 2,827 are boys and 2,674 are girls.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman yesterday attended a class in session to take a closer look at pre-religious education at Lambak Jalan Bedil Religious School.
School’s Headmaster Mohd Yassin bin Haji Mohd Yussof welcomed the minister and delegation.
Seventy-three new students registered for pre-religious education at the school divided into two sessions. A total of 24 students attend the morning session while 49 during the afternoon.
The minister visited classrooms and facilities, such as the school’s surau and hall, and interacted with the students, before having a dialogue with the school’s administrators and teachers.
The new building was officially handed over on July 13, 2020, featuring 18 classrooms with the capacity to accommodate 540 students.
This year, the Brunei-Muara District recorded 512 students registered in Brunei I zone; 864 in Brunei IIA, 881 in Brunei IIB, 1,106 in Brunei III and 648 for Brunei IV. In the Tutong District, there are 355 students registered in Tutong I zone and 271 students in Tutong II.
Meanwhile, 747 students have enrolled for pre-religious education in the Belait District and 97 in the Temburong District.
