The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) paid tribute to a youngster whose heroic act saved a drowning man at Air Tenab Recreational Park, Kampong Selapon in the Temburong District on December 28 last year.
Md Asyari Amni bin Md Ariff was presented the Community Excellence Award by Operation ‘G’ Commanding Officer SSFR Haji Afiq bin Haji Julah during a ceremony at Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School yesterday.
Bangar Fire Station Station Commander SO Jamaludin bin Ahmad and Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School Acting Principal Hajah Noor Zinatul Ashiqin binti Haji Ibrahim were also present at the ceremony.
The FRD urged the public to avoid swimming alone and beyond their own capability. Children must always be attended to when playing at beaches, swimming pools or rivers. Life jackets should be used when jet skiing or surfing.
