Team Attoyyibah with a total score of 84.5 per cent and Team Ulfatunnisa with 89.5 per cent were placed first in the male and female categories of the Belia and Beliawanis Tausyeh Competition at the Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque, Kuala Belait yesterday.
Kampong Sungai Teraban Village Consultative Council (MPK) committee organised the competition.
Eight teams from the Belait District competed in groups of four in the two categories.
The event was aimed at raising youth’s interest and fostering closer ties with those sharing a similar passion in Tausyeh.
Team Firqah Amaturrahman with 84 per cent was placed second, while Team Mujahid and Team Insan Al-Imani came in third and fourth spots in the male category.
Team Annisa Atthoyibat with 88 per cent was placed second while Team Asy Syuhada and Team Nuur Syuhada came in third and fourth places in the female category.
The panel of judges assessed the performances based on the choice, voice, performance style and message.
Acting Belait District Officer Mohammad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed presented prizes to the winning teams.
Kampong Sungai Teraban Acting Village Head Zaini bin Haji Kaderi meanwhile, handed a token of appreciation to the guest of honour.
