Kampong Batang Mitus and Kampong Kebia Village Consultative Council (MPK) in the Tutong District organised Tamu Ria at Kampong Batang Mitus Community Hall on Sunday featuring sales of fresh flowers, handicrafts, village products and plant fertilisers, as well as ATV ride, flower show and children’s colouring competitions.

Advisor of MPK Kampong Batang Mitus and Kampong Kebia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Aziyan bin Abdullah officiated.

The event was organised in keeping with the villagers’ rising interests in growing flowers particularly taro.

Themed KampungKu Ceria, the event aimed at strengthening ties and unity in the village and promoting economic activities.

The event also saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the volunteers who contributed in the search and rescue mission of missing local hikers on December 19, 2020.

Acting Village Head of Kampong Batang Mitus Suhili bin Alas in his capacity as the chairperson of the organising committee expressed hope that the event will be conducted every three months to help generate income for the villagers.

“The activity will help gather the flower sellers and provide a platform for them to expand their business ventures, while drawing visitors to the village,” he added.
