The Prime Minister’s Office, as the main agency of the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, places great emphasis on the whole-of-nation approach in planning and implementing actions to drive the country’s progress with governmental and non-governmental agencies.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud shared this during a dialogue between the PMO and Legislative Council (LegCo) members at the PMO building yesterday.

The LegCo delegation comprised 17 members, led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Sabtu.

Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti said, “The whole-of-nation approach was addressed in His Majesty’s titah in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Legislative Council meeting in 2019.

“In upholding His Majesty’s command, we hope for strong support from parties, including LegCo members, who voice out the issues faced by the people and bring together society, especially at the grassroots level in planning and implementing actions that can help His Majesty’s Government realise the aspirations of the national vision.

Alhamdulillah, His Majesty has conferred a titah on the restructuring of the PMO organisation by merging the departments into three main divisions, namely Public Service, Welfare, International and Media; Security, Enforcement and Law; and the Vision, Finance and Cabinet.”

With the merger, the PMO is increasingly focussed on playing its role as the lead agency and civil service machinery.

In strengthening and improving the performance of the PMO, four main strategic goals have been identified: progressive governance, sustainable readiness, outcome focussing on the people’s interest; and excellent and strong organisation.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah was also present.

The dialogue was preceded with a photograph session followed by a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa.

A welcoming speech by Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti opened the session.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin said the dialogue served as a platform for the PMO to provide the latest information on its roles, responsibilities and services for the well-being of the people and residents in a bid to realise Brunei Vision 2035.

The session also enabled the two sides to share ideas, views and suggestions towards improving the service quality of the PMO.

The dialogue also highlighted achievements and developments of the previous LegCo session especially issues that have been raised as well as initiatives and new approaches.

The Commissioner of the Police, Royal Brunei Police Force; permanent secretaries; deputy permanent secretaries; and heads of departments; as well as senior officers at the PMO also attended.
