The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) responded to a report of a landslide affecting an access road at Jalan Tungku Link in Kampong Pengkalan Gadong recently.

The landslide occurred within a metre of the front gate of a family home, causing the access road to collapse, the FRD said in a statement.

No injuries were reported and fire and rescue personnel have installed three canvasses at the affected site as a safety measure.

In view of the incident, the FRD issued a safety advisory reminding the public to remain alert and seek temporary shelter during bad weather conditions. They are also advised against parking vehicles near trees and utility poles. During the first signs of a landslide, homeowners should prepare for the possibility of danger, and – if necessary – vacate the house.

Meanwhile, motorists are advised to follow road signs and traffic signals; stay focussed; buckle up while driving; and to watch out for environmental changes such as rain, slippery roads and limited visibility, especially at night.
