Two foreigners were found to be in breach of their work permit during Operasi Selongkar 23/2021 by the Labour Enforcement Division (LED) of the Labour Department on Tuesday. The operation aimed to ensure employers comply with the Employment Order 2009.
In Kampong Mabohai, a foreign worker holding the position as a tailor was found working as fuel pump assistant.
At a mobile phone store at Darussalam Complex Jalan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, a foreign welder was found working at a different company.
The employers are believed to have allocated their foreign workers to work positions not in accordance with their Foreign Worker Licence permit.
If found guilty, the department will issue a BND600 compound fine for the first offence and BND900 for the second offence, in accordance to Section 86 and Section 112.
Employers are reminded to ensure the welfare of their foreign workers, including providing an employment contract and clean dormitory, as well as regular salary payment, in accordance with the Employment Order 2009.
