A recycling drive was held at the surrounding area of KB Sentral Shopping Centre by Green Depot last Sunday as part of efforts to raise environmental awareness as well as the facility’s recycling services. According to Green Depot Project Officer Nihayatul Syahira binti Zulkipli, the recycling drive was an opportunity to help collect recyclable materials and also help to raise awareness on their efforts to encourage recycling and to reduce waste from entering landfills.
She said that residents in the Belait District can begin their recycling journey by creating an account via recover.green-brunei.com, which will allow them to keep track of their recycling records as well as the amount of monetary awards (from Green Depot) that they can receive from recycling.
Green Depot is also planning to engage with schools and educational institutes to further encourage recycling. Previously, Green Depot held a recycling drive at the Zainab Mosque in Kampong Lumut last December.
