PDS Abattoir Sdn Bhd (PDS) announced its rebranding initiative via its social media platforms yesterday.

PDS, a subsidiary company under Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd in line with its business expansion and transformation, unveiled a new brand image along with the opening of its new feedlot facility during a ceremony in Kampong Batang Mitus.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah officiated.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Dr Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin and senior government officials were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed with the launch of the PDS website.

The ministers were ushered to the feedlot for a ribbon-cutting to mark the new facility’s official opening.

The ministers and guests later toured the feedlot.

The facility’s establishment signifies PDS’s future plan to transform its operation from the importation of ready-for-slaughter cattle to the importation and fattening of feeder cattle and increase the holding yard capacities from 800 heads at present to 2,800 heads and ultimately to 6,800 heads.

PDS and the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) inked the land lease agreement for additional 55 hectares at Batang Mitus Agricultural Department Area on July 10, 2019, an area intended for the location of its feedlot facilities and plantation for Napier grass.

The additional capacities will enable PDS to play a more significant role in serving the country with freshly slaughtered and competitively-priced high-quality Halal beef and processed products.

In preparation for the full-scale feedlot operation, PDS will commence a pilot feedlot project involving 80 feeder cattle in the second quarter of this year.

PDS continues to support the national food security initiative under the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) and in collaboration with the MPRT by importing additional ready-to-slaughter live cattle from Australia since last year and live sheep from Indonesia in December 2020.

Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd formed a joint venture partnership with PDS in 2016 to leverage on its resources and expertise to benefit consumers and the economy as a whole.

As a leading accredited Halal and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified facility, PDS’ core business activities include the importation of livestock from Australia, slaughtering, production of fresh and chilled beef as well as production of processed products.
