JPKK appoints new futsal coach

Brunei Darussalam certified futsal instructor Haji Puspa bin Haji Mohammad has been appointed as a part-time coach at the Co-curriculum Education Department (JPKK), Ministry of Education following a contract agreement recently.

Acting Director of the Co-Curriculum Education Department Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais was present at the event.

The newly-appointed coach said, “Our target is to prepare a team for the ASEAN Schools championships in Brunei in 2023 or 2024 subject to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.”

Etiquette conditions have been spelled out such as being qualified to train the sport which they are responsible for and must gain an interest in the sport.

In addition, part-time coaches must have a good behaviour, disciplined and always adopt a positive attitude as well as serving as a good example to the student athletes.

They must also be kept abreast of any sporting developments including revisions in the regulation of the sport as well as advancing their coaching knowledge and the latest information related to their field of sport.

Haji Puspa is a well-respected futsal coach in the country and is a certified Gol Brasil instructor. He also obtained a FIFA Futsal Coaching and AFC Futsal Coaching License.

As an internationally-certified instructor, the futsal coach has also conducted community coaching courses in the region including in Kuching, Sarawak in 2019.
