Minister welcomes NDC delegation

A DELEGATION from the Royal Jordanian National Defense College (NDC) yesterday paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports at his office in Jalan Kebangsaan and had the opportunity to learn more about the ministry’s strategic roles towards the country.

Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof received the five senior military officials, who were led by Brigadier General Salah Ibrahim Almajali, and had discussion on matters related to their respective roles and responsibilities in handling the welfare and harmony of the people, as well as efforts to enhance cooperation between both countries.

Following the courtesy call, the delegation was briefed on the strategic roles of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), focussing on four of its main focus areas which are social security, strengthening of national identity, resilient and competitive youths and excellence in sports. The briefing was delivered by Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary at the MCYS.

Also delivering their briefings were Major (Rtd) Mohamad bin Dollah, Acting Director of the National Service Programme (PKBN) and Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, Acting Director of Social Services.

The delegation – comprising 17 high-level military officials from Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Palestine – is in the country for a brief visit, as part of their programme’s regional studies component to learn about another country’s strategic, defence, military and economic importance.
