The Taiwan Business Association of Brunei Darussalam hosted its annual Lunar New Year dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Gadong recently.
Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam Andrew HC Lee and his spouse were the guests of honour.
Lee said, “To celebrate Chinese New Year this year and live in a near normal life in Brunei Darussalam is a blessing.”
Despite the pandemic, Taiwan’s economic growth rate in 2020 reached 2.54 per cent, with a 3.53 per cent estimation this year, he added.
Taiwan also recorded its highest exports last year amounting USD345.3 billion and import valued at USD286.5 billion.
“The annual trade volume exceeded USD58.8 billion, which also set a record high.” He thanked the Taiwan Business Association of Brunei Darussalam for its support to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam.
Taiwan Business Association of Brunei Darussalam President Yap Ong Chuan conveyed his wishes to association members and guests.
The event saw the tossing of Yee Sang as a symbol of prosperity, and a lucky draw.
