In commemoration of the 37th National Day celebration of Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the event.
Commander of the RBAF Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, service commanders, Joint Force Commander, deputy permanent secretaries, officers, staff and several members of the community in Bolkiah Garrison also attended.
The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah and was followed by the recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuhaa until Surah An-Nas led by Private Muhammad Zainul Arifin bin Haji Haminuddin, the winner of the Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran, Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) 2021.
Doa Khatam was read by Private Md Muizz bin Mustafa. The ceremony continued with the reading of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Md Rusaini bin Awang and a Tazkirah delivered by Abdul Nasir Saufi bin Hassan, before concluding with a mass Asar prayer.
Besides enlivening the National Day celebration, the ceremony was held to instil the spirit of reading and appreciating Al-Quran among personnel within MinDef and RBAF.
Similar ceremonies will be held at all suraus at RBAF garrisons and camps today.
