A total of 68 schools were acknowledged for their outstanding performances at the closing of the 3rd School Leaders Convention 2021 at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday.
Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman awarded schools that excelled in the Primary School Assessment (PSR) examination and other public examinations last year.
Awards were presented to: schools achieving above the target of 90 per cent in grades ‘A’ to ‘C’ in 2020; schools showing continuous improvement in achieving grades ‘A’ to ‘C’ for three consecutive years (2018-2020); schools achieving above the target of 90 per cent in grades ‘A’ to ‘C’ for three consecutive years (2018-2020); and performing primary schools in Whole School Evaluation (WSE).
Meanwhile, at BCGCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE ‘O’ Level achievement, schools were awarded based on three categories of incentives: schools achieving the target of 60 per cent and above in 2020; schools performing continuous improvement in achieving five ‘O’ Levels and above for three consecutive years (2018-2020); and performing secondary schools in WSE.
Three categories of incentives were also awarded at the BCGCE ‘A’ Level. The categories included: schools achieving three ‘A’ Levels and above in meeting the target of 80 per cent and above in 2020; schools performing continuous improvement in achieving three ‘A’ Levels and above for three consecutive years (2018-2020); and performing sixth form centres in WSE.
Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Primary School was named the performing primary school in WSE. Its headmistress Hajah Nor Zurina binti Haji Assim attributed the award to school leaders, passionate teachers as well as parents and their children.
She said, “The camaraderie forms a solid synergy and acts as a backbone of collaboration in supporting and guiding our students towards success, not just for this world but also the hereafter.”
Earlier, a workshop was held to highlight on the Guidelines for 21st Century Skills Implementation in Schools including a framework on blended learning, joined by school leaders as part of a follow-up to the School Leaders Dialogue held last November.
The convention ran from February 27 until March 1, themed ‘Quality Leaders, Quality Education’, and was jointly organised by the Department of Educators Management and the Department of Schools under the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Some 280 participants attended the convention, including heads of department, sections, units and centres under the MoE, and school leaders from public, private and international schools as well as Arabic secondary schools.
