Mosque community members in the country took up healthy activities to connect with to congregations and to promote active lifestyles.
Saiful Rijal Technical College Surau (MTSSR) Takmir committee held a two kilometre walkathon yesterday morning in conjunction with the 37th National Day celebration to instil healthy living practices and foster closer bonds within the congregation. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin participated.
The event also aimed at expanding Islamic teachings through Takmir activities of the mosque and the surau. The morning event started off with mass Subuh prayer followed by the recitation of Ratib Al-Attas.
Participants then warmed up with light exercise before setting off. Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran
Haji Mahmud and Head Imam of MTSSR Surau Mohammad Helmy bin Haji Jamil also participated.
Meanwhile, committee members of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubilee Mosque, Kampong Jangsak and their families went on jungle excursion at Bukit Batu Bujang Pahang in Kampong Menunggol and Bukit Sipatir in Kampong Subok recently.
The Bukit Batu Bujang Pahang trek involved some 30 hikers to encourage recreational and sports activities among members as well as forge closer ties.
It also answered government’s calls to nurture a healthy lifestyle. while instilling a balance of work and piety.
