Delivering a titah at the 4th Asean-United States (US) Summit held at the National Convention Centre, Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, His Majesty highlighted the progress of the Asean-US relationship that included the elevation of the Asean-US partnership to a strategic level.

On economic cooperation, His Majesty welcomed the progress of discussions made on various proposed initiatives such as the US-Asean Connect Centres and the Asean-US Internship programme.

As strategic partners, His Majesty stressed the importance to continue to work closely on addressing challenges to international peace and stability. The threat of terrorism, however, remains a serious concern, and the root causes of terrorism and violent extremism must be addressed in a comprehensive manner.
