Mosques, suraus and religious halls across the country held Surah Yaasiin recitations to enliven Nisfu Sya’aban yesterday, with Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital being the focal point.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim was the special guest at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque ceremony. The event began with the three-time recitations of Surah Yaasiin after mass Maghrib prayer, and concluded with the mass Isyak prayer.
Muslims commemorate Nisfu Sya’aban every 15th of Sya’aban, the eight month in the Hijrah calendar.
Muslims are encouraged to heighten devotion on the night of Nisfu Sya’aban by congregating in prayers to attain blessings and forgiveness from Allah the Almighty.
