His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah said Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia continue to maintain strong bilateral relations and believes this will grow stronger based on deep understanding, which is the result of a friendly relationship characterised by similar culture, language and religion.
His Majesty said this in a titah during the Official Luncheon at Istana Nurul Iman hosted in honour of the two-day visit of Prime Minister of Malaysia Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and spouse Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman with their delegation.
His Majesty said both countries continue to enjoy cooperation in various sectors such as trade, defence, education and health.
His Majesty also believes that the noble ties both countries share will be further strengthened through kinship of the royal family and friendship between both governments and peoples.
Brunei and Malaysia, like other countries remain vigilant amid the pandemic wave. “Apart from adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP) as a prevention protocol, Brunei and Malaysia are also seen not neglecting the ‘Godly Vaccine,’ which is the Zikir and prayers to Allah the Almighty to free ourselves from the threats of the pandemic,” His Majesty said.
This, His Majesty said, is the uniqueness of both country and peoples in facing the crisis.
His Majesty also expressed his contentment for the strong cooperation from both sides in combatting the coronavirus outbreak, adding his appreciation to Malaysia for allowing Bruneians to transit in Malaysia and also the assistance to bring back Brunei citizens and residents stranded overseas.
His Majesty also extended his congratulations to Malaysia for chairing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings last year, under the leadership of the Malaysian Prime Minister, which His Majesty said has achieved the launch of Putrajaya Vision 2040 towards the establishment of a peaceful, open and resilient Asia-Pacific economy.
