DARE (Darussalam Enterprise) yesterday held an Enterprise Open Day (EOD) at the Main Hall, Tutong Civic Centre Complex.
Similar to the previous EOD held in January and March this year in the Brunei-Muara and Belait districts respectively, the event was an outreach initiative by DARE to provide assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs and existing businesses, talks on various business-related topics, offer one-to-one clinics and provide enterprises the opportunity to log in any business related issues, suggestions or inquiries at the Business Helpdesk.
The talks discussed a range of topics including Brunei Vision 2035; Ease of Doing Business; DARE Industry Business Academy and Industrial Site Management; cottage industry and cooperatives; how to write a business plan; and business opportunities in agriculture, aquaculture and tourism.
The one-to-one clinics covered ‘Financial Management’ by DARE and ‘Business Plan Writing’ by Livewire.
The agencies present to provide assistance and services to the business community included Wawasan 2035 Secretariat; Ease of Doing Business (EODB); Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism; Registry of Companies and Business Names (ROCBN); Revenue Division; Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED); Certificate of Origin, Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO); e-Government National Centre (eGNC); Labour Department; Employees Trust Fund (TAP); Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD); Autority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi); OneBiz; municipal department; Land Department; district office; the Department of Electrical Services (DES) as well as Co-operative and Cottage Division (CIC).
The private sector agencies involved included Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Baiduri Bank Berhad, BAG Networks and Livewire.
DARE will hold a similar EOD in Temburong in October.
DARE is a statutory body that aims to nurture and support local enterprises from start-up to growth. It works closely with government and non-government agencies to foster the growth of business enterprises in order to increase national exports and GDP growth.
Other than information on government policy, regulations related to business operation and building construction, the EOD also addresses other aspects of ‘doing business,’ ranging from protection through IPO to cloud-based ‘Point-of-Sale’ system and website solutions offered by BAG Networks for various types of business or enterprise operations.
Previously, businesses looking for cloud-based POS system may have had to look for oversea agencies, but now Bruneians can opt to choose locally developed cloud based POS system from BAG Networks with its Cendana system package.
With the availability of a locally developed system, entrepreneurs can have ease of mind in terms of local support.
