AZIZ Harun claimed a piece of music history when he became the first Bruneian artiste to win an award at Friday’s Malay music awards show, Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) 2016, held at the new MES Theater at Mediacorp, Singapore.
The local singer-songwriter won the Best Collaboration award for ‘Beautiful’, his second song collaboration with Faizal Tahir.
The 17-year-old also performed the winning song during the star studded award show which was broadcast live on Astro Ria.
He expressed his joy for winning the award on his social media page where he thanked his family, friends and fans for always believing in him.
“Hope this award can be the first of many!” he chimed before adding, “This award is for all of us because without your hard work and support, I wouldn’t be here.”
Sharing the same sentiment was his manager, Bahzi Damit, who believed that Aziz’s achievement can bring a breath of fresh air to the local music scene.
“I would like to say thanks to all the fans who have always supported and believed in Aziz and have stuck through the journey,” said Bahzi during an interview with the Sunday Bulletin.
“Let’s hope that this is just the beginning of something great.”
His win also made it into APM history as the first victory for Brunei since the award ceremony was established in 2001.
Jaz Hayat, another local talented singer, was nominated for the ‘Best New Artist Male’ category, a category Aziz was nominated for in last year’s awards.
