THE Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, recently went on a working visit to a number of villages and Mukim under Temburong District.
The main aim of the working visit is to look at the development and progress of products under the One Village, One Product initiative for the Mukim and village consultative councils.
The villages that the minister visited include Kampong Batu Apoi, Kampong Senukoh, Kampong Belais dan Buda-Buda, Kampong Sibut and Kampong Menengah.
Joining the working visit are Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as deputy permanent secretaries and officers from the ministry with Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud, Acting Temburong District Officer.
The visit also served to look at the needs and shortages that may be faced by the Mukim and village consultative councils in trying to develop their products.
This is where other agencies can contribute by giving assistance and services such as Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office through the Cottage Industry Division, and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) through training and competency.
Among the products that were identify and can be further develop are Senukoh noodle whereby the noodle has received very encouraging response, fishing products and recreation from Kampong Belais dan Buda-Buda Village Consultative Council, product of Lubuk Batu Mas Homestay under Kampong Sibut Village Consultative Council and also mini curry puff from Kampong Menengah Village Consultative Council.
