THE Women’s Bureau of the Mukim Lumapas Consultative Council yesterday organised a lecture in conjunction with the new Islamic year of 1438 Hijrah themed ‘Economic Strength, Our Success’.
Held at Lumapas Religious School, the event saw the attendance of Dato Paduka Haji Jemat bin Ampal, Chairman of the Mukim Lumapas Consultative Council, along with committee members of the Women’s Bureau and members of Mukim Lumapas Consultative Council.
The event opened with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
In her speech, event chairperson Hajah Hammah binti Puasa highlighted that Islam brings a sense of security to those who practise the religion – regardless of their race or skin colour, in addition to providing a solid foundation for us to appreciate, teach and practise any reminders contained therein.
With regard to the theme, she explained that economic activity is crucial, especially with the development of a country that has made the economy an important foundation towards realising success.
“Through economic focus, discussions will centre on the scope of adding on to the income of an individual, family, society and country,” she said.
Islamic economics does not only look at the profit/wealth without thinking about whether it is ‘halal’ or ‘haram,’ but also places emphasis on an individual’s noble behaviour when they are involved in the economic field, she said.
The event continued with a lecture by Ustazah Hajah Zunainah binti Haji Gunong, an officer from the Islamic Da’wah Centre, followed by a souvenir presentation and recitation of Doa Selamat.
