LAND Department under the Ministry of Development yesterday organised Ma’al Hijrah 1438 celebration, held at Indera Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of Development Training Centre.
The guest of honour was the Minister of Development, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah.
The highlight of the celebration was a special religious talk entitled, ‘Menuju Allah dan Rasulnya’ delivered by an invited speaker, Ustaz Awang Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak.
In his talk, he underlined the important of ‘zikir’ which is capable to transform a person into a good and right path. He also touched on the definition of Hijrah, as well as types of Hijrah, namely ‘Hijrah Jasmani’ and ‘Hijrah Maknawi’ (Hijrah Hati)’.
He also added that taubat or repent is a way towards Allah the Almighty and His messenger by avoiding things that are forbidden or prohibited.

Prior to the celebration, it began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mohd Yamin bin Haji Muhin, an officer from Land Department, followed by the reading of verses of Al-Quran by Amal Hayati binti Haji Junaidi, Land Officer and a champion in the Musabaqah Al-Quran of the Ministry of Development and its departments competition under Qariah category.
The celebration was one of the annual religious activities conducted by the ministry, and aimed to remember the journey of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and take lessons from the talk delivered as inspiration and motivation for us to go for hijrah in seeking the blessing of Allah the Almighty.
Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Development, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar; Land Commissioner, Datin Hajah Zainon binti Abang Haji Omarzuki; permanent secretaries; deputy permanent secretary; Director General of the Public Works Department; heads and deputy heads of departments; officers and staff members of the ministry and departments under it.
