BRUNEI Darussalam is sending a wide spectrum of companies to participate in the 3rd BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Trade Fair, Conference & Business Matching to be held from October 14-16, 2016 at Sheraton Hotel Makassar in Indonesia.
Twelve companies have been selected including some from the education sector, food and local marketing industries. They were selected based on their readiness to export as well as their desire for overseas expansion. The companies included Syarikat Nurul Hikmah, Mindplus Education Sdn Bhd, Rafni Najihin Enterprise (Rafni Food), Muhammad Mustaqim Enterprise, Mohd Hassan and Bros, Batik Desamas Company, Alai Nadhirah Haafizhah Enterprise, HKH Fasfood and Takeaway (MOKAM), Betye Kuan, Seri Pekatan, International School Brunei (ISB) and Global Halal Industry Development Division.
Brunei’s participation is in collaboration with the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MoFAT), and DARE (Darussalam Enterprise).
On the sidelines of a pre-departure briefing held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) yesterday, Ang Beng Siong, Business Development Manager of International School Brunei (ISB) said ISB’s participation in the upcoming trade fair, is in the area of education.
In an interview, he described the nation’s unique environment that people overseas are still unaware of. He said Brunei has a lot to offer in education, for instance, the environment is very conducive to study.
He believed that parents will send their kids to Brunei knowing that their children will not go astray by doing unbeneficial things. ISB is participating in the trade show to try to hook up with agents for collaboration.
Recently, ISB signed an agreement with Nanning Culture & Sports Academy at the Brunei’s pavilion in the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO).
Hajah Noor Monasalieana @ Suzie binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the Creative Director and Executive Manager of Wira Group will represent Seri Pekatan Sdn Bhd in promoting various cracker products.
She said the company is also looking for distributors for its products. She said there were overseas buyers who purchased their products in bulk and this signals the acceptance of the products in overseas markets.
Most of the companies participating in the event are eyeing an opportunity to create public awareness for their products and expanding their customer base.
Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Hassan, the Managing Proprietor of Muhammad Mustaqim Enterprise, spoke with the Bulletin regarding her company and the product they will be bringing to Makassar – which are mostly interior home furnishings.
Hajah Norhayati said her company would be selling unique, handmade products such as cushion covers, and table runners and shoals in their expo booth. Through the expo she hopes to find an entry into the international market.
Another company participating in this event is Batik Desamas Company, which sells Kain Sinjang and Sarong with cultural designs based on Tenunan. In an interview, the owner Zainal Abidin, remarked that he also wanted to promote the motif designs of Brunei through his affordable products. For now, he said that his products are considered for niche market but also added that as of late, young customers are keen on wearing the Sinjang and Sarong.
In addition, Rafni Food, an enterprise owned by Haji Noor Ashdi bin Haji Mohd Shaipon, will also be participating in the expo. He said that Rafni Food would be selling plain nuts, with the addition of white garlic and tom yum flavours.
He added that one of the goals for joining the expo is to find either an agent or distributor. He also said that he is open to entering into a joint venture.
