YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan), through its ‘Projek Amal Memeduli Warga Emas dan Keluarga Yang Memerlukan Bantuan’ (PAWEK), yesterday conducted its community work at the residence of Dayang Hajah Tampoi binti Abdul Ghani in Kampong Kiulap.

Hajah Tampoi, 83, is a senior citizen and was never employed. As for now, she solely depends on financial aid of B$100 per month provided by the Community Development Department (JAPEM) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) as well as her B$250 monthly old pension. She is currently living with her nephew who looks after her regularly.

She is currently living in a house she inherited from her parents for more than 30 years.

The two-storey house has four bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a toilet which was originally located on the ground floor of the house.

Although the house is still concrete, it still requires some repairs on the house’s pillars, floors walls as well as roof. There was also a need to fix her broken toilet and also, the need to construct a new toilet on the upper floor so for Hajah Tampoi’s convenience.
