THE much-anticipated Korean Festival was successfully launched last night at Times Square Shopping Centre, offering the public with manifold facets of flavours of the Korean culture under one roof.

Present as the guest of honour to officiate the ceremony was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, along with Cho Won-myung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam and Amal Majidah binti Haji Suhaili, General Manager of Times Square Shopping Centre.

The festival, now it its third consecutive year, hopes to deepen understanding between the two countries and foster closer friendship among their people, said the ambassador in his welcoming remarks in front of hundreds of visitors at the shopping centre.

Started in 2014, the Korean Festival has been successfully organised by the Korean Embassy and Times Square.

This, said the ambassador, “is a good example of cooperation between non-government and government sectors, with Brunei and Korea sharing the same goal.”

During the launching ceremony, the public were treated with a Sand Art show performed by Sean Chai and taekwondo martial arts demonstrations by K-Tigers, an internationally renowned group of artistes coming all the way from Korea.
