AS THE ‘Bandarku Ceria’ enters its fourth week following its October 2 launch, the event appears to be growing in popularity among both locals and tourists alike, ensuring the former ‘Brunei Town’ is alive and colourful on Sundays.
The various highlights of yesterday included aerobics, cycling and half-marathon, Silat exercise and the ‘One Village, One Product’ display set up by the Temburong District village consultative councils.
Among those present at the event yesterday were Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong as well as Fire and Rescue personnel led by their Director, Yahya bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
Visitors took advantage of the day’s activities, with some renting bicycles to take in the beauty of the capital without having to worry about traffic.
Bouncers were also set up for the enjoyment of the young ones, while others took pleasure in strolling around Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien and the capital.
The number of food and beverage stalls has multiplied since the event’s launch, offering vendors a chance to promote their products and to make extra income.
Not only does Bandarku Ceria provide the public the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of the capital, but it also encourages the public to be more active on Sundays by waking up early and participating in healthy activities typically carried out at recreational parks and fitness studios.
