THE Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO) has announced that, as part of its efforts to increase the employment and development of Bruneians, it will be organising the Brunei Job Fair 2016 for three days from November 27-29.
The Brunei Job Fair 2016 will be held at Bridex Exhibition Hall 1 and 2 in Jerudong. On November 27 the Job Fair will be open to the public from 10am to 6pm, after an opening ceremony, while on November 28-29 it will be open from 9am to 6pm each day.
Carrying the theme, ‘Realising employment excellence through capacity building, competency and performance’, the job fair is intended to be an annual national event with the objective of leveraging the job matching process in order to promote local employment and development across industries via the Job Centre Brunei (JCB).
The JCB will be accessible online 24/7 (around the clock), which provides an avenue for job seekers to view job opportunities across industries and to register to the available upskilling programs in order to increase their employability and marketability. For companies, they will also be able to access potential candidates online at any time during the day.
The fair will be offering job opportunities for a wide range of skills and qualification levels from multiple sectors such as Construction, Food and Beverage, Tourism and Hospitality, Manufacturing, Health, Transportation and Logistics, Education, Banking and Finance, Publishing, IT and Creative Industries, Retail, Services and Telecommunications.
Among the activities that will take place during the event will include CV writing and Career counselling, Job Demonstrations, Walk-in Interviews, Industry Rounds Table and Entrepreneurship Focus Group sessions, Digital Literacy Program sessions and Inspirational Talk sessions which are all open job seekers and visitors in general.
The Digital Literacy Program is a series of upskilling programs with the objective to better educate local job seekers on IT devices, Internet etiquettes and Social Network e-Safety. These sessions aim to help jobseekers, even those who are already employed to be more IT Savvy including how to be more successful in presentations, spreadsheets and how to be more efficient and effective with word processing and email communications.
The Entrepreneurship related sessions aim to attract interest amongst the local job seekers to also consider venturing into business startups.
Apart from the Digital Literacy sessions, there will be ongoing CV writing and Interview clinics with the objective to assist our locals in their job seeking efforts.
Also set to feature during the Job Fair is the Industry Competency Framework (ICF) program, which is a collaboration between the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO), Institute Technical Education Brunei (IBTE) under the Ministry of Education (MOE) and various industries and agencies, which aims to increase industry-ready and competent Bruneians.
