A CEREMONY took place at the Brunei Malay Teachers Association yesterday, during which the Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association (BDNBA) donated badminton rackets to 12 schools and presented Level One coaching certificates to the 2015 participants of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Shuttle Time programme.
The donations and certificates were presented by Haji Abdul Rahim bin Derus, the Director-General of Education at the Ministry of Education.
A brief presentation was given by Zuno Kartono bin Haji Ali, the First Secretary of the BDNBA, in which he explained that the programme was designed for school physical education teachers to instruct local students in the sport of badminton.
Brunei Darussalam is among several countries that are implementing the Shuttle Time programme, which is intro-duced by the BWF and the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) in order to develop the sport while at the same time monitoring structural leadership services in badminton sports management.
Currently, more than 200 teachers across the country are taking part in the programme.
Also present at the event was Haji Antin bin Ahad, the President of the BDNBA.
