THREE Muslim convert families in Temburong District were presented with the keys to their new houses yesterday, by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
The recipients were Masnah binti Abdullah Bana, Norhayati binti Abdullah @ Pok Anak Kanang and Nursabariah binti Abdullah.
The three families were selected by the Islamic Da’wah Centre, in an ongoing effort to provide assistance for Muslim converts.
From 1993 to 2015, 82 houses were given by the Islamic Da’wah Centre to Muslim converts, comprising five houses in the Brunei-Muara District, 30 in Tutong District, 18 in Belait District and 29 in Temburong District.
The houses are fully financed by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, through the Zakat Asnaf Muallaf group.
The housing assistance scheme is an approach by the Islamic Da’wah Centre towards improving the quality of life for Muslim converts, so that they would be able to carry out their religious obligations with ease.
