TAIWAN officials called on Bruneians to visit Taiwan, taking advantage of the visa waiver facility for Brunei citizens and permanent residents.
The call was made by Jason CH Wan, the official representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Brunei Darussalam at the ‘Time for Taiwan Invitation, Taiwan Amusement Park’ workshop yesterday at The Rizqun International Hotel.
The Taiwanese visa waiver programme for Brunei citizens came into effect from August 1, 2016.
Permanent residents of Brunei with a Certificate of Identity (CI) document can visit Taiwan for up to 30 days without having to apply for a visa starting December 1, 2016.
“So many things can be done in Taiwan, such as enjoying its warm hospitality and now we are more Muslim-friendly with the presence of restaurants, hotels and places of worship,” Jason Wan said.
Meanwhile Lee Chi Tien, Director General of Taiwan Amusement Park Association, said Taiwanese and Bruneians are friendly people.
“We can introduce Taiwan scenarios and culture to the Bruneians. Taiwan has 23 theme and ocean parks and almost half of the theme and ocean park vendors were here to promote. And these parks include marine learning and aboriginal villages.
Their presence (Taiwan Amusement Park participants) here is the first step towards promoting how beautiful Taiwan is to local travel agents,” he said.
Lee also said that it was his first visit to the Sultanate and he loves the country and has always heard about it from his relatives. “I am going on a city tour on Sunday,” he added.
Tony Wu, Director General of Taiwan Tourism Bureau Kuala Lumpur Office, said many Taiwan food outlets are Halal-certified and Taiwan is also good for body medical checks, take wedding photographs with its breathtaking scenery and ideal for family tours.
He also highlighted on many beautiful sceneries especially at the west coast.
“We provide high-quality service with no complaint,” he added.
He also pointed out on their strategies for next year including their marketing tag ‘Unsung Hero, It’s Time to Thank the Unsung Heroes’. Without their help, Taiwan will not be successful and to appreciate them, there will be given free hotel for those who devote themselves to society.
