RMAF Chief receives recognition

CHIEF of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Roslan bin Saad was yesterday awarded the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Honorary Pilot Wing in recognition of his service in forging stronger ties between the RBAirF and the RMAF.

The award, bestowed upon him by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) was presented to him in a ceremony held at the RBAirF Base in Kampong Rimba yesterday.

Presenting the award was Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of RBAF.

General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Roslan was commissioned as Pilot Officer in 1975 and his flying career began in February 1977 upon graduation from the Basic Flying Course.

He had served in various command appointments including Commanding Officer for No 1 and No 21 Squadron and as the Base Commander of RMAF Base Subang.

He was promoted to Brigadier General in January 2007 and took command of the No 2 Air Division at RMAF Base Labuan.

He was promoted to Major General in January 2008 and assumed the post of Assistant Chief of Staff Operation and Exercise (J3) in Joint Forces Headquarters, Malaysian Armed Forces.

He was then posted as Commander No 1 Air Division located at Kuala Lumpur Air Base from September 5, 2008 until August 20, 2010 and then as an Air Operations Commander.

He was appointed as Deputy Chief of Royal Malaysian Air Force in November 2010 and as the Chief of the RMAF in September 2014.

Throughout his career he has made various contributions in advancing cooperation and ties between the RBAirF and RMAF through working groups that involves the implementation of drills between the both AirForces and also in the regional front.

Whilst in Brunei Darussalam, he also paid farewell calls to the Deputy Minister of Defence First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Commander of the RBAF and his counterpart, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Commander of the RBAirF.
